This
agreement is made for our mutual benefit to
protect you and ourselves, as well as to
make clear the conditions of this purchase.
The
conditions of this sale are as follows:
* The Buyer
accepts the responsibility of caring for
this Cat/Kitten and providing properly for
its welfare. The Buyer agrees to follow the
Breeder’s instructions on care, housing,
diet, treatment, and health.
* The Buyer
agrees that the Cat/Kitten will always
receive prompt medical care and recognizes
the necessary need for annual
exams..*Protocol for indoor cats
are boosters every three years. Please
discuss with your vet.
* The Buyer
agrees to provide companionship for the
Cat/Kitten and will NEVER
leave the Cat/Kitten alone for more than
24 hours unless arrangements have been
made with a responsible person to provide
companionship, fresh food and water at least
once a day.
* The Buyer
agrees to provide a generous amount of
exercise for this Cat/Kitten, provide it
with toys, scratching post or tree, etc. and
to NEVER confine this
Cat/Kitten except for necessary isolation
during an illness. This Cat/Kitten is
NEVER to live in a cage.
* The Buyer
agrees that this Cat/Kitten will be kept
indoors.
* The Buyer
agrees that this Cat/Kitten will NOT
be declawed. We suggest that the Buyer keep
the Cat/Kitten’s nails clipped and will
provide a scratching post, tree or toys to
scratch on.
* The Buyer
agrees that this Kitten will be
spayed/neutered at 6 to 7
months of age for the females and
around 8 to 9 months of
age for the males. DO NOT
let you vet talk you into doing the spay or
neuter sooner than the ages stated above.
Upon the Breeder (Mellokat)
receiving the receipt from a licensed
veterinarian’s certification of altering,
the Buyer will then be provided the
registration papers and pedigree. We
recommend Isoflourane gas for
anesthesia. It is by far the safest for
your Kitten. Please DO NOT use
Ketamine anesthesia because cats can
have adverse reactions and it can be fatal.
* The Buyer
is to provide a lifetime home for this
Cat/Kitten and will not be sold to another
party. The Buyer will contact the Breeder (Mellokat)
if it becomes necessary for the Buyer to
give the Cat/Kitten up and the Cat/Kitten
will NOT be sold or given to any Pet
Shop, Research Facility, Animal Shelter, or
similar institution. Mellokat will
assist the Buyer in finding a suitable home
for the cat if necessary. If a suitable home
cannot be found then the Cat/Kitten would be
returned (at Buyer’s expense) to the
Breeder (Mellokat). The Breeder has
the right to refuse to allow the return of a
sick or infectious Cat/Kitten until the
Cat/Kitten is well at the Buyer’s expense. A
receipt of health from a licensed
veterinarian would be given to the Breeder
before returning the Cat/Kitten.
* If there
are other pets in the household, the Breeder
suggest that the Buyer isolate
the new Kitten from their other pets for
a minimum of one week. New
Kittens may show signs of stress including
but not limited to, sneezing, runny nose,
watery eyes, diarrhea and/or constipation.
These effects can be minimized by feeding
the identical food as served by the Breeder,
offering bottled or distilled water and
overall reducing stress during the
adjustment time. If food is to be switched
to another good quality food, gradually add
the new food over a 7-10 day period.
Example: Days 1, 2 & 3: 75%
old food, 25% new food; Days 4 & 5:
50% old food, 50% new food; Days 6 & 7:
25% old food, 75% new food; Day 8:
100% new food.
* You must
follow the health record supplied by
Mellokat of vaccinations that were given
to your kitten and NOT allow your
veterinarian to give another distemper
vaccine until 3 – 4 weeks after the last
vaccine that was given by Mellokat.
***Note: We have had
veterinarians that disregard our vaccination
record and have put the kittens health in
jeopardy. We do not recommend
FeLV or FIP vaccinations.
* The Buyer
is asked to please send photos of the
Cat/Kitten to Mellokat at the ages of six
months, nine months, and one year and every
year thereafter. The Buyer should also
enclose a brief note describing the health
and temperament of the Cat/Kitten. This
clause is of great assistance to Mellokat in
evaluating its breeding program.
Health Guarantee
* The Kitten
has had 2 Distemper vaccinations and has
been checked by our veterinarian and is in
good health. The kitten will require another
3-way Distemper vaccine at 16 weeks of age
or 3-4 weeks after last vaccine given by
Mellokat.
* The
Breeder guarantees that the Breeder’s
cattery is FeLV/FIV negative and at
the time of sale, the Kitten is free from
any disease.
* In order
to qualify for this guarantee the Kitten
must be examined by a licensed
veterinarian within 48 hours (except
weekends). If the vet finds that the Kitten
is ill within this time the Kitten will be
returned for a full refund. Under no
circumstance will the Breeder be responsible
for payment of any medical treatment
provided to the Cat/Kitten by the Buyer. The
Breeder warrants that this Kitten is
genetically sound and will replace the
Cat/Kitten with another of equal value or
half of the original sale price if this
kitten dies within one year of the purchase
date from a genetic defect. The defect has
to be evidenced in an autopsy report from a
licensed veterinarian and presented to
Breeder (Mellokat).
I am in
full agreement and agree to abide by the
terms and conditions of this sales contract.
